Jiva.AI and Aevice Health partner to pioneer breakthrough medical AI for Asthma adverse event prediction using AeviceMD

Jiva.AI and Aevice Health develop AI model to predict asthma attacks up to 72 hours in advance

For the more than 545 million people living with chronic respiratory disease worldwide, an asthma attack can arrive without warning — a sudden deterioration that, caught late, ends in an emergency room. Jiva.AI and Aevice Health have spent three years working to change that, completing a joint programme that produced an AI model capable of predicting asthma exacerbations within 24, 48, and 72-hour windows, identifying more than 60% of exacerbations across 185 patients at clinical sites in the UK and Singapore.

The programme was backed by Innovate UK and Enterprise Singapore, bringing together Jiva.AI — a UK-based artificial intelligence company whose systems are used by the NHS and the Dubai Health System, among others — and Aevice Health, a Singapore-based remote monitoring specialist focused on asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

Combining wearable diagnostics with AI model-fusion

At the centre of the programme was Aevice Health's FDA-cleared wearable stethoscope, AeviceMD, which continuously records respiratory data — including wheeze detection, heart rate, and respiratory rate — alongside patient-reported inputs from an accompanying app. Jiva.AI applied its model-fusion technology to this multistream data, combining physiological signals and patient-reported information into a single predictive system.

The collaboration also required a cross-border data-sharing framework to support compliant analysis of anonymised patient information across the UK and Singapore — an infrastructure challenge that, once resolved, allowed the clinical programme to operate across multiple sites in both countries.

The two companies are now exploring the next phase of clinical validation and regulatory development to advance the technology toward commercial deployment.
